Hiring an Officer for Reservations
In owning a hotel or even a small resort, one of the important employees you should have is a reservation officer. A reservation officer is an employee responsible in processing the booking or hotel reservation.
Although most large hotel and resort businesses tend to outsource reservation agents through the use of seeking call center services, this may not be suitable for a resort or hotel that is just starting to operate. Therefore, hiring at least one reservation officer for your company is enough provided that he or she can handle the amount of responsibilities the job position requires. There are some things you should consider before hiring an individual to be your resort or hotel’s reservation officer.
A reservation officer should be a good conversationalist as he or she will deal with customers making a reservation. Therefore, if you are targeting the international market, it is an advantage that your reservation officer knows how to speak a language known to the foreign market you are targeting other than your local language. He or she should also have some basic training in sales as it is involved in the nature of the job. A background in travel is also a great advantage.
